Chasing history
On Monday, Dawn and I went to the Giants game in hopes of witnessing history with Barry Bonds' 756th home run. I scored some tickets from someone at my work place and got to the game early. For the first time in a long time we were there to watch batting practice. It was only Washington's batting practice, but it was still fun to watch.
Bonds came up four times in the game and each time the crowd rose to its feet in high anticipation of a record breaking home run. The atmosphere was electric and the buzz of the crowd was palpable. Everyone wanted Barry to hit a home run. With each pitch, there was a splattering of flash bulbs that lit up the distant stands like a disco ball. The groans and moans rumbled throughout the crowd on every called ball. And each time he got out, the crowd's energy was sucked right out of their collective bodies. It was fun to be a part of that. In the end, Barry went hitless and we are forced to wait another day for history to happen.
