Lake Tahoe - Funhouse
This last weekend we went on a trip to Lake Tahoe and stayed at what is known as "The Funhouse". The house is equipped with retro 80's arcade games like Centipede and Ms. PacMan, as well as games like pinball, bumper pool, and shuffle-puck. We were not going to be without diversion.
The stay started out with a hike around Echo Lake. We trekked from Lower Echo Lake to Upper Echo Lake and back. This was fun and not that arduous so it was relaxing. At the upper lake, we were intruding on some geese that were feeding on the grass. Jason made like a dominant goose and shooed them away - only to have them come back for some of their favorite grass. We went back home and had a barbecue dinner.
The next day included a trip to the casino. Jason proved that you can win at slots. The rest of us played some Pai Gow poker without much luck. I did end up putting down some cash on Arsenal winning the English Premier League.
For dinner, we got a special treat from Chudo and Karen. Chudo busted out his famous gyoza. All made from scratch, and with a manufacturing line of volunteers, they gyoza were delicious. Everyone was impressed and wanted to make them for themselves at home. We ate more than 60 gyoza! Next, Karen made okonomi-yaki. Sometimes dubbed "Japanese pizza", it's a batter based pancake filled with cabbage, other vegetables, and sometimes meat. It's then topped with pickled ginger, bonito (fish flakes), nori, Japanese mayo, and a sort of vegetable sauce. So good! Thanks for cooking us such good food!
The rest of the stay was filled with Scrabble, deuces, and playing the various games around the house. It's obvious that Christine is a Ms. PacMan freak. Good luck getting over your addiction. Jenny, you are the next pinball wizard.

Good times (of course). Next week: Clear Lake with the fellas.
