Bridge to Bridge Run

Yay! On Sunday, we participated in the Bridge to Bridge run in San Francisco. It starts out near the Bay Bridge at the Ferry Building and takes you on a scenic route along the waterfront past Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf; then to the Golden Gate Bridge and eventually ending at the Presidio. I've run this race before, but only the 7k (4.5 mile) course. This year, we decided to run the 12k (7.5 mile) course. I've never run more than 5 miles so this was going to be a challenge for me.

At work, there was an email sent out that offered a training program, or run club, to help prepare for the race. I thought it would be a good idea to enlist so that I would keep motivated. It's so easy to just blow off exercising these days. I'm really glad I signed up. Once I told Dawn about it, she told her Hot or Not coworkers and they started to train for the 12k as well.

On race day, the weather was as nice as can be. The sun was out, not wind, and temperatures in the 60's - perfect running weather. The race started and we were off. An hour and fifteen minutes later we crossed the finish line elated and excited that we finished the race without too much struggle. I was just happy that I finished the longest distance I've ever run. Congratulations to Dawn, Des, Tina, and Greg; we did it!
