Napa

This last weekend Dawn and I took a short weekend trip up the the Napa valley. It's been a while since we've been back there, and with a night at Lavender in Yountville as a gift form the Robertsons, it seemed like the perfect time to return. Thank you to James and McClain for the awesome, relaxing stay in Yountville.

Of course we did some wine tasting at several wineries while we were there - but we were mostly excited about a dinner at Thomas Keller's Bouchon in Yountville - just 2 short blocks from our inn. Actually, the inn was right in between Bouchon and the world famous French Laundry. We were actually pretty unimpressed with what we ordered, especially since Dawn and I are believers that nothing on the menu should be the wrong thing to choose. I could go into to details, but that's for a dinner conversation.

We wanted to take a look at French Laundry, so we walked down the street and saw the garden that was right across the street form the restaurant. It's interesting that the chefs can just walk across the street and grab the ingredients that they need. now that's what you call fresh ingredients.

What else.. oh yeah, we saw California's Old Faithful geyser! I never really though I'd see one in person. It was interesting to see. It actually spouts the water for a couple minutes instead of just one short burst. I never knew it was like that. What a fun weekend. Next week: Texas.
